A Celebration of Friends and Great Times

There is beauty in nature and perhaps that's what makes fly fishing what it is..us trying to imitate that beauty. There are few things as poetic as the life of a mayfly. Here the final stages of life of the Green Drake. Is it an eternity to them or does it tell us something about our own journey through time.

The Coffin Fly (Drake Spinner) from Maryland. A beautiful insect where ever you find it.

There are those people you meet that have a real personality and brother Zyg was one of them. Educated, eccentric, and debaucherous he was the most lovable of fisherman you would ever meet. Always generous and contemplative this photo of him on Penns Creek says it all.

In Memory
Zymond Anthony John Gonglewski died on November 18, 1998. To his friends he was just “Brother Zyg.”  Zyg held a M.A. in English Literature from the Univ. of Chicago. He spoke at least 5 languages and was the consummate Renaissance Man but he never threw his education in the face of anyone. He was a generous man and had friends from all walks of life. He was part of the famous Green Drake Gang on Penns Creek. He loved the company of fellow anglers and the environs where trout are found. He enjoyed great cigars and great food; he lived life to the fullest. Whenever I fish Penns I´ll make sure we always remember our comrad...Brother Zyg. Gone but not forgotten.

There are big trout out there and you dream of them Some are so large they make you tremble. When you catch these monsters you keep a special place in psyche for the next one because you know someday you'll meet them.

One of the great fly anglers of his time Vince Marinaro passes his discerning eye on a rod. Quite opinionated always never the less Vince had his good moments too. Here at the picnic held on the Letort in Vince's Meadow.

The late Vince Marinaro examines a fine rod as the late Dave Williams looks on. Vince mellowed later in life. Good Thing for all of us!
